Jin and Jing: the Great Cities of the Huabei Plain (Online Talk via Zoom)

Tianjin and Beijing are not only historically but also geographically linked. Their city walls were built only years apart. You could say that the Ming dynasty’s Tianjin and Beijing were born from the same development. Today it is easy to forget. Even though the two cities are only a half hour train ride away from each other, the two cities seems miles apart. However, if we go just a little bit back in history, this was different. In the late Qing and republican periods, Tianjin was the modern city far outpacing the old conservative capital of Beijing.

Jin and Jing is a talk about the historical relation between the two cities. From the last emperor to the grand canal we look at historical connections between the two great cities of the Huabei plain.

We have invited Michael Hart from Griffin Business Management to join the discussion.
